Because of warming temperatures, Grinnell Glacier is one of the last glaciers left in the U.S. It is a challenging 10 mile 1600 foot climb to see. The lake's opaque turquoise color comes from the glacier's rock silt. Blackfeet, the original inhabitants call these mountains the backbone of the world.
