A Classical Greek myth about an ill-fated love affair. According to Pliny and Ovid, the nymph Smilax was slighted by the mortal youth Krokos. In pity, the gods changed Smilax into the clinging vine bindweed, and transformed the youth into his namesake, a saffron crocus.
