From a cedar along the Mackenzie River near town of Blue River, OR. The Holiday Farm Fire in the Finn Rock Reach fire zone singed the bark; while I usually paint char below the bark, the intricate knobs low on the bole and the way the morning light illuminated it fascinated me.
