framed each leaf 8x8" cradled wood These images were inspired by my Holy Mother and the recent passage of Pope Francis. They are images that I painted on natural leaves harvested in Ukraine . I purchased the leaves directly from a Ukrainian citizen via Etsy in 2025 . The leaves were shipped directly to me from Ukraine during their current war with Russia.Can you imagine the conditions, and rarity of this purchase, not to mention the audacity of my expectation to receive anything at all during war time conditions. I remember Pope Francis asking for prayers for Ukraine before he died this past Easter. Now, I imagine him talking to G-d directly about his own perceptions of the war between Russia and the Ukraine. I think G-d is listening to him ,as if for the first time , about what is happening down here. I think it is the beginning of the end of the war because it is only right that it should stop immediately. I primed the leaves first then used acrylic paint to portray the Holy Mother Mary. My favorite one is a standing figure without any facial features because it reminds me most of my own mother. These are assemblage, mixed media pieces and are works in progress. I will update images as they are completed as well as pricing. As they are now the purchase price is one thousand dollars per leaf, when completed they will cost more than that.
