I have been actively photographing for over the past twenty years while working full-time in animal science education and research.  Two years ago, I retired, and I am now pursuing photography full-time.  I plan to travel and capture the beauty of the world and create fine art prints."

David W Schafer is an Adventure Photographer located in Denver, Colorado.  Originally from Missouri, David moved west to pursue graduate degrees in Animal Breeding and Genetics and has managed large University ranches in both Colorado and Arizona.  He has a passion for ranching, education, travel, and photography and has combined all these in his chosen career.  

David is a self-taught photographer.  His photos have been featured on covers of several Arizona Cattlelog magazines, ads, calendars, and on the covers of agricultural reports.  He also received “Best of Show” awards in the professional divisions for photos entered in the various fairs and festivals.  In 2013, he was the featured artist for the Arizona National Livestock Show.  In 2023, he received the “Golden Camera” Award from the Universe of Colour Photography and the “Silver Camera” from the Noir Club of Black and White Photography.  Additionally, he was selected a Photographer of the Year for each of the aforementioned groups in 2024.

David enjoys traveling and seeing the world.  He has traveled extensively across the U.S. and visited all seven continents.  Highlights of his travels include an African photo safari, cruises down both the Amazon and Nile Rivers, black water rafting in New Zealand, and an expedition to Antarctica.
